Wayne is the Head of Secondary Teacher Education Programs at UWS. He lectures in English education and literacy as well as in areas of educational policy.

His research fields include effective teaching in the secondary school, English and literacy education, policy and the politics of literacy and, most recently, boys' education.

Wayne has a particular interest in the teaching of Shakespeare.

He has also written extensively across all of these areas.
