Viv Ellis is a University Lecturer in Educational Studies and a Fellow of St Cross College, Oxford University UK. In his research, Viv maintains a focus on learning, subject, English and the education of teachers with a theoretical perspective derived from Vygotsky know as CHAT (cultural-historical activity theory).

He was Vice Chair of NATE (2000 - 2002) and IFTE Officer (2003) and he is currently a member of the editorial board of Literacy, for the UKLA journal.
