Linda Shelton has taught English and Composition at Utah Valley State College in Orem, Utah for 17 years.

She has special interests in how language came to be a class marker in our culture and hopes to help students understand that grammar and Standard English affect our lives socially and economically.

Linguistic diversity is fascinating to her, not threatening.

She recently published the articles, “Why Grammar Is A Dirty Word” in the Assembly for the Teaching of English Grammar Journal in 2006 and “Importing and Exporting English” in Spheres of Globalization: Proceedings of the Sixth Annual Utah Valley State College Conference by Faculty also in 2006.

She loves her six children and her horse, Tony.
