Stephanie Jones

Professor Jones is an assistant professor of education at The University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia, U.S. She teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses on place-based critical pedagogies, social class and education, and literacies and social justice.

Prior to joining the faculty at UGA, Stephanie was a literacy professor at Teachers College, Columbia University, a literacy consultant and staff development provider, and a primary grades school teacher. She continues to find any excuse to be in classrooms with children.

Stephanie’s research engages the intersections of social class, gender, and race with language, literacies, and educational equity with a particular interest in social class and poverty.
