"One major area of interest is in the competing philosophies or models of English as a subject and how these impact on policy. I am currently researching the way in which English teachers philosophies of their subject change over time. I am also concerned with the relationship between assessment and learning with particular reference to English, as well as the relationship between film and television and pupils' developing literacy.
