James S. Chisholm is an assistant professor in the Department of Middle and Secondary Education at the University of Louisville, Louisville, Kentucky, USA. A former secondary English teacher, he now teaches courses in methods, young adult literature, and adolescent literacy in the College of Education and Human Development. His research focuses on adolescents’ multimodal literacy practices and inquiry-based discussions of language and literature in English and language arts classrooms. His recent publications can be found in scholarly outlets such as the Journal of Literacy Research, the English Journal, and the 60th Yearbook of the Literacy Research Association.
