Alicia is currently a doctoral student in Reading, Writing and Literacy at the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education. Alicia's practice and research is informed by ten years of teaching participatory English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes to immigrant and refugee families, as well as six years of developing, facilitating and evaluating language/literacy programs for newcomers in the United States and, most recently, for minoritised rural populations in Nicaragua.
