After completing her first MA degree, Vivian spent several years working as a teacher and later also as a translator. Her interest in these two areas led her to study her second postgraduate degree in Translating and Interpreting with Applied Linguistics (TESOL). After the course, Vivian started teaching part-time at Korea University, where she taught postgraduate-level interpreting and translation classes for the Macquarie University postgraduate courses in interpreting and translating, and at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) as a full-time faculty member, where she taught undergraduate classes at the Department of English Interpretation and Translation.

Vivian is currently an MPhil/PhD student at SOAS, University of London, where she is investigating how South Korean L2 learners of English translate culture-specific lexis. Her research interests include language acquisition, language pedagogy, translation studies and translator training.
