Dr Kathy Mills is a Senior Lecturer of language and literacy education at the Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia. She was recently awarded a second Australian Research Council Fellowship (2014-2016) in the field of multimodal literacy curriculum and pedagogy.

Dr Mills has published educational research widely in digital composition, multimodality, reading comprehension and literacy learning in contexts of social disadvantage. She has also contributed to theorising socio-cultural, critical, and socio-spatial approaches to literacy research.

Mills is the author of four books, including The Multiliteracies Classroom, with a fifth book forthcoming. Dr Mills serves internationally on the executive committee of AERA Writing and Literacies SIG and on review boards of literacy journals.
