Dr Christine Edwards-Groves research and professional work is underpinned by a strong commitment to excellence in classroom and professional interactions as integral factors in achieving efficacy and inclusivity for students in classrooms and for teachers in their professional practice and development. This central concern holds together the threads that constitute her research interests in two interconnected fields: i) investigating the nature of classroom talk and role of interaction for excellence in pedagogy in contemporary literacy classrooms and professional development; and ii) examining exemplary educational leadership, professional development practices and classroom pedagogy and their effects on students’ academic and social practices. Her current research areas include classroom interaction, multimodal writing practices, professional learning practices and practice theory. Dr Edwards-Groves is Senior Lecturer Literacy Studies and a key researcher for the Research Institute Professional Practice, Learning & Education (RIPPLE) at Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga, Australia. She is a member of the international Pedagogy Education and Praxis (PEP) research network. Her most recent publications include co-authored texts Classroom Talk: Understanding dialogue, pedagogy and practice (2014) with Michele Anstey and Geoff Bull and Changing Practices, Changing Education (2014) with Stephen Kemmis, Jane Wilkinson, Ian Hardy, Peter Grootenboer and Laurette Bristol. These texts both draw on recent advancements in practice theory, in particular the theory of practice architectures (co developed with Kemmis et al., 2014 from the work of Kemmis and Grootenboer, 2008).
