Senior lecturer Kaisu Rättyä works in teacher education at the University of Eastern Finland. Her research interests lie in literary education and teaching grammar. Her recent project deals with the teaching methods of grammar in L1. Kaisu Rättyä's earlier research has dealt with young adult novels from thematical and narratological point of views. Her doctoral thesis analyses YA novels of Hannele Huovi, one of Finlands most awarded authors. Before her academic career, Rättyä worked as a director of The Finnish Institute for Children's Literature.
