Sue Brindley taught in secondary schools mainly in East London. She was Deputy Head (curriculum) and then moved into Inspector/Advisory role in Essex LEA.

She was appointed to the Open University and wrote the distance learning Secondary English PGCE course, and was part of a team which developed the electronic conferencing facility.

She then moved to policy and government level as Professional Officer for English at SCAA, now QCA, the governenment body which is responsible for the national curriculum and assessment arrangements.

Sue currently co-ordinates the secondary English PGCE at the University of Cambridge.
